The background menu allows you to pick different colors/colours, textures or patterns as the background of a page in your book or calendar (or the work space for canvases and other projects).

1. For books and calendars, select the page that you want to change.
2. Open the Backgrounds tool from the left menu, and select a theme to expand the category.
3. Click a background to apply it to your page or workspace. The example below shows a background that has been applied to a calendar page (and the icon is checked in the Backgrounds menu).

The difference between designs and backgrounds is that designs can include photo and/or text layouts. Backgrounds do not include any photos or text areas, but show behind any photos or text areas on your page or work space.
